Short Films

Haircut is a short film I made during my junior year.  I was elected by my peers to direct it.  My assignment as the director was to adapt a script written by someone else.  The script presented us with many unique challenges that we were excited to tackle.

“Escape” is the narrative film that I directed in my sophomore year.  Through this project I had the chance to organize a larger crew and work to create a positive on set experience.  The sci-fi genre gave me the freedom to try a lot of different shots and lighting set ups.

This short was the final project in my Experimental Film class.  We had a lot of freedom to be creative and I decided to do a color study.  I was able to try a lot of different shooting, lighting and editing techniques with this music video style film.

This short was the final project in my Intermediate Cinematography class.  The purpose of the project was to use what we learned about shot composition, shot types, lighting and camera operation to tell a story without the use of dialogue.

“Learning to Fly” was the final project for my Design for Media course.  The focus of the project was use of color. We were tasked to take inspiration from another filmmaker and I chose Wes Anderson.  The stop motion element was a task I imposed on myself to make the project more challenging.

“The Red Light” is my first ever time-based work.  While it is technically a photo roman and not a film, it still uses many elements of cinema.  The assignment was to tell a story using only still images, while keeping in mind shot composition and variation.
